I Read……

August 3, 2008

Here’s something some might not know about me. I love to read. Aside from comics, graphic novels and magazines, I also read novels.

Do I look like someone who read novels? Hmmmm……well, some people do read novels but by popularity I guess, like the J.K. Rowlings’ Harry Potter, or Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code……I’ve read most of their works and I agree they are those pieces that are worth reading.

Remember those days in high school when we are asked to write in your classmates slum book, there is always the part where they ask you if do you read, whose your favourite author……Back at those days I didn’t even bother filling it up because I thought reading are for geeks, and I’m too ashamed to confess that I read novels.

And during those times I’ve only read Mary Higgins Clark’s (MHC) work, I know the author seems to write girlie or woman type of stories, but once I’ve tried reading one of her work, I was wrong. She writes suspense type of stories, where she’ll keep you guessing who the suspect is.

Of course you’re probably wondering how the hell did I got a copy of her book, my mom and my sister has lots of their book. But the person who persuaded me to read and try her book is my younger brother (Thor).  It all started when one summer Thor and I are helping at our store while chitchatting and bored because we’ve got nothing to do at the store; he told me to try reading book and thus introduced me to MHC.

It all started from MHC, then I’ve also move on to read Sydney Sheldon’s, some of Julie Garwood’s, but I wouldn’t dare try reading those Mills & Boons books and Danielle Steel’s.

In came my cousin and Thor again to introduce me to Stephen King. Creepy but cool novels, honestly, I seldom read his books because some of his works I just can’t seem to digest. My all time favourite is the novel Eye of the Dragon. After reading this book, it opens the path for me to try other Fantasy novels. That’s where I started venturing to the worlds of Neil Gaiman, J.K. Rowling, J.R. Tolkien and all.

I’m not just restricted to fantasy novels though, I also read Nicholas Sparks’ works.

If I can only turn back the wheel of time and be able to fill the blank about who my favourite authors are, these are who I will write: Nicholas Sparks, Neil Gaiman and Eoin Colfer.

Anyways Happy reading guys…….:)

Thank you for introducing me to Mary Higgins Clark! It’s one of my reading guilty pleasures now. ^-^ Lots of books there! What are you reading now? It’s great that even if you’re a guy, you like Nicholas Sparks. He’s one of my favorites too, along with Neil Gaiman, JK Rowling, and scores of others.
